internship overview.

I interned in Deloitte Digital’s Customer and Marketing Consulting offering, which helps clients with strategic customer insights and a design-led approach to applied innovation. We reimagine meaningful experiences to drive loyalty, growth or productivity through elevated experiences and human-centered design.

⚠️ This is an overview of my learnings from deloitte as my projects are under NDA

my role.

As a consulting intern on the Product and Experience Design Team, I had the opportunity to explore 3 unique projects across industries from retail to healthcare. As my projects changed, I learned to adapt to new environments from working on a larger design team to leading the conversation as the project’s only designer.

my impact.

🛍 PROJECT 1: INTERNATIONAL RETAIL CLIENT

This projected consisted of two deliverables, where we worked closely with our client and associated parties:

(1) an entirely new white-labelled mobile app: On a team of 6 designers, I focused on the UX of empty and error states across the app. I considered how we would handle edge cases and designed for screen readers and accessibility concerns.

(2) a re-invented user flow for a recently acquired subsidiary: Alongside my design manager, I focused on leveraging existing web patterns to help users seamlessly navigate the transition from an old check out flow to a new one after a corporate acquisition.

🏥 PROJECT 2: NATIONAL HEALTHCARE

For a national healthcare app, I led daily checkpoints as the team’s only designer and later helped onboard a fellow product designer. I spearheaded everything from user research, usability testing, accessibility checks, personas and journey mapping, wireframing, product critiques, developer hand-off, and implemented client requests.

🎬 PROJECT 3: MOTION DESIGN AND STORYBOARD ANIMATION

Using Figma’s prototyping tool, I animated a storyboard in under a week to help visualize a client pitch deck. I explored the basics of motion design and used my skills here to become a prototyping powerhouse in future projects.

key learnings.

1. 🎨 HONING MY TECHNICAL AND DESIGN SKILLS

I learned from a team of amazing design consultants who mentored me through my first industry role. They guided me as I picked up technical skills in prototyping, engineering, motion design, and people management. I worked perfecting my craft in product thinking and interaction design.

2. 🎙 COMMUNICATING ABOUT COMMUNICATION

“Managing up” has been a phrase tossed around throughout my time my Deloitte, but this experience redefined my expectations for working on a team. By openly communicating our expectations, defining our roles, and understanding each other’s work styles, I learned about teamwork in fast-paced, client-facing environments.

3. 🗣 HUMILITY AND BEING OPEN TO CRITIQUE

No design is perfect and there is always room for improvement! I learned to explore every idea, iterate quickly, and ask for feedback. I also learned to optimize my presentation skills and guide discussion to get the most of our jam sessions.

other works.

fun stuff.

The core design team comprised of multi-faceted designers and leaders who continue to inspire me! My time at Meta was also defined by amazing mentors and incredible humans from Reality Labs as a whole.
